I might have...although I don't think I'd mention any comparisons like that at the show....that would be like mentioning that I like Pearl Jam and Beck....probably not too popular with some in the crowd. Where were you sitting/standing? On Saturday, we were wedged against the sound booth. On Sunday we got smart and bought the "dinner package", thus giving us a good meal and stools with our names on them near the bar on Brent's side. We were right behind the asian girl who spent the whole evening trying to get Mike's attention.

Now that I think about it, I probably thought of Green Day because of the tie the singer wore. Reminded me of Billy Joe, I guess. I could picture the singer dueting with the Good Charlotte guy on "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" or whatever that song is called. They weren't terrible, just not my cup of tea.

"People were being quite rude to the opening bands on both nights"

That happened every night, and i feel each band was good in there own way.

Remember when the lead singer of mest made the comment about VH1... well he kind of put himself in the same position as the trendy mohawk fuck.... (that is the correct term right?) I mean he was like did you learn that on VH1... and it makes you think did YOU learn that on VH1

Anyway.. I thought both bands were great and ended up getting there Cd's. Mest inspired me because they are from around here. Bullets and Octane was cool. We met them outside the HOB and at the concert he reconized us and jumped in the front row and shuck my brother and my hands..

I do wish people would respect musicians..If i ever tour and someone is that rude to my opening band.. I will definitley speak up.

I was at the Saturday and Sunday shows. The weather was crappy, but the shows were great. It was good to hear Prison Bound back in the set, and Don't Drag Me Down really got the crowd going. The kid Mike brought up on stage on Sunday surprised everyone by saying Dropkick Murphys was his favorite band. I bought one of the zip up hoodies..it seems really heavy and well made so we'll see how it holds up.

The band was in the HOB hotel too, so we saw them coming and going quite a bit. We spotted Mike and Jonny out walking near the hotel while we were sightseeing. Got a setlist from the sound guy and managed to get it signed by all the guys. Mike was a little harder to catch...he seemed to disappear right after the shows and never came out afterward. My husband spotted him leaving the hotel after Sunday's show and rushed me across the lobby. He was friendly and very nice about it, but he seemed kind of quiet, maybe just tired.

People were being quite rude to the opening bands on both nights. I would think that Social D had at least some say in choosing them, so let's not be quite so stupid about it, shall we? I felt sorry for that girl in the crowd on Sunday...but when you tell somone on stage to "go home", I guess he can use the microphone to his advantage.

lmao, i think someone from the band must look on here or some shit, everyone complaining about not hearing "king of fools", and they start performing it again.
in that case, maybe they'll do "dear lover" again since i told brett to his face.. i was like "tell mike to start playing dear lover again".
i'm crossin my fuckin fingers now

Yeah, a completely different set every night would be great but whatever I'm just happy to be able to see them. We're lucky in the states, Europe only gets a handful of shows each tour. Some people have only had the chance to see them once or twice in the past ten years. I've seen them 4 times in less than 6 or 7 months. Even with a similar set each time, I've always been able to take away something different from the show.

As far as what some other people have said. I agree with alot of what Ness has to say but there are definitely some things that have come out of his mouth that are just downright stupid. The whole "call your boss up" thing is good for a laugh but I mean really. But I know it's just said in good fun.

I understand the whole thing about stading by your band but just because you don't agree with everything they do doesn't make you a lesser fan. I admire Ness and the crew but if I get to the point where I'm basically just reciting Ness quotes I hope someone would punch me. It's good to be inspired by and admire a band but think for yourself too.

Milwaukee was almost the same too.

Mike and the boys getting old? Can the new bassist not keep up? What is going on.

I am not going to tonights show because I really don't feel like seeing them play the same songs and put on the same ACT again.

The best thing about the show was prison bound with the soft intro....

Anyone else have a thought on why they are playing the same set.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">Make that all three Chicago shows, yes I felt a bit disappointed truth be told, wish I didn't but I agree that it was the same show, same verbage and diatribe, a pity really considering the talent and songs that they could mix about. Don't know if anyone else agrees but I really did like the band Mest that opened, guess I am getting old, their from the region and I hadn't heard them before.
